Who We Are
Meadowsong is a growing community of families and individuals dedicated to preserving the wonder of childhood. Together we uphold space to nurture the free and creative individual through a deep reverence for early childhood development.
Faculty
Ashley Dunn - Director and Lead Teacher
Ashley has lovingly worked with families and children for over a decade, and began her journey by serving families and infants as a Postpartum Doula. After relocating to Athens, she began working in a Montessori classroom with three to six year olds where she realized teaching young children was where her heart belonged. After spending time homeschooling her own child, Ashley returned to teaching young children, this time outdoors, as a forest kindergarten teacher. During her time teaching in the forest, Ashley began following her dream of pursuing her Waldorf teacher certification. Ashley holds Certification in Early Childhood training through Lifeways North America, with additional certification in Birth to Age Three and Early Childhood Learning in Nature. When not working with children, Ashley can be found meandering through the forest with loved ones, practicing fiber arts, and baking.
Deanna Greycheck - Assistant Teacher
Deanna has 10 years of teaching experience on farms, in schools, and for non-profit programs with a focus on cooking, gardening, and outdoor education. She holds a masters degree in Education for Sustainability from Antioch University and a teaching certificate from the Forest School Teacher Institute. Deanna’s approach to teaching is hands-on, immersive, and fun with a focus on providing spaces that encourage children to play and explore and learn through their own experiences. She prioritizes community-building and strives to create a collectivist environment where students support one another and feel a sense of belonging. She believes that nature is a wonderful teacher and never ceases to engage our sense of wonder and curiosity. Deanna lives with her husband and two children on a small piece of land where they grow fruits and veggies, raise chickens, and play in the woods. She is especially passionate about fiber arts, birdwatching, and growing native plants for pollinators and is excited to share those things with the Meadowsong community.
